There are two different methods of signing up for an ISP. The first method of the two is that your ISP provides you with software for accessing your new Internet account. The other method is the manual method, where you have to actually configure the dialup Internet service account yourself.
1. If ISP provides software (access dialer) do this: Next you have to either download and/or have them snail mail or email you the dial-up Internet setup software that the ISP provides. When ordering dial-up Internet services over the Internet, the ISP's software arrives much faster. To download the software just click on the link and your computer's dialog box appears and asks you where to save the executable file. Now you're going to open the file with a single or double click depending on how your computer is set up. With the execution of the file you're going to be asked for a user name and password at the installation prompts. Create your username and password and select your ISP number and you're done. You will have to provide your Internet Service provider with user name and password at the dialup software dialog box every time you want to access the Internet or you can set it to remember your account information for the account login.
If you ordered the CD and received the ISP software in your mailbox in a week or so, then you will set up your username and password at the installation prompts.
2. If ISP provides username, password, and ISP phone number or setting up your notebook for Internet access do this: Setup information for Windows 98-XP Pro; Go to the Control Panel - Internet Options. Then select the Connections tab and Add button. Then read and fill in the text boxes or radio buttons as you go along with the information provided by your ISP. At Sign-in, you will have to provide your Internet Service provider with user name and password at the dialup dialog box every time you want to access the Internet or you can set it to remember your account information for the account login.
Only provide your username and password at the account setup page, when logging in to the account or to access your e-mail account. If you hire a technician to set up your account, then change your password as soon as possible. Otherwise that person can have access to your Internet account and do what they please with your account.
Now enjoy your access to all the information and data your new Internet service account has to offer you.
